Deb Doubek, owner of Peterman Brook Herb Farm
Come join us to learn how to make soap in a hands-on cold process soap making class. Deb walks you through the process of making herbal soap from scratch just like her Grandma once made. We will cover topics
such as a brief history and basic chemistry of soap making, several basic soap recipes, necessary supplies and equipment, safety considerations when working with sodium hydroxide, taking accurate measurements and proper mixing temperatures, adding herbs to your recipe, using pure essential oils to scent soap naturally, preparing your molds and molding options, insulating, cutting, curing and storing your finished handmade soap.
Each participant will take home approximately 2 lbs. of the good stuff!
Please wear clothing and shoes that can get dirty as soap makers and herb gardeners are known for their olive oil stained clothes and muddy shoes! Also, please let us know in advance if you have an aversion or allergies to animals as they love humans, but we realize not all humans love them.
